A first visit to any aesthetic clinic can be intimidating, particularly if you're not sure what to expect or what you'll be asked. This guide is written specifically to take that uncertainty away.
Before your appointment
Book via WhatsApp. Our team will confirm your appointment and the estimated duration. If you have specific concerns or existing skin conditions, mention them when you book; this helps me prepare for your consultation.
Come with bare or minimal skin. Please don't apply heavy foundation or full coverage makeup on the day. I need to assess your skin as it is, not through a filter. Minimal, light coverage is fine.
Bring a list of current medications or supplements. Some medications and supplements affect skin treatment, retinoids, blood thinners, and certain antibiotics all have implications. Knowing what you're taking avoids having to reschedule.
Note your concerns in advance. People often get into the consultation room and forget half of what they wanted to discuss. A brief note on your phone helps us make the most of your time.
What happens during the consultation
The first part of every appointment at Janus is a consultation, not a treatment. I take time to:
- Understand what's bothering you and what you want to achieve
- Assess your skin, hair, or body concern in detail (using appropriate examination, sometimes including trichoscopy or skin analysis tools)
- Ask about your medical history, allergies, and medications
- Explain what I'm seeing and what it means
- Describe the treatment options that are appropriate, including what they involve, how long they take, what results are realistic, and what they cost
- Answer your questions directly
There is no pressure to book anything at this stage. If you want to go home and think about it, that's completely fine. A good treatment decision is an informed one.
What may happen after the consultation
If you decide to proceed with a treatment at the same visit, the team will prepare you accordingly. For most beauty treatments (facials, waxing, nails), this can happen immediately. For medical treatments (BOTOX, HIFU, laser), there may be a brief preparation period and, for some, a patch test first.
For more complex treatment planning, particularly for acne, hair loss, or pigmentation, we may want to schedule a separate treatment appointment after reviewing any bloodwork or a short observation period. This is standard good practice, not delay for its own sake.
After your treatment
We'll provide aftercare instructions specific to your treatment. For most treatments, this includes guidance on sun exposure, skincare to avoid, and what normal recovery looks like.
You can always contact us on WhatsApp with questions between appointments. We'd rather you ask than wonder.
What Janus is not
Janus is not a luxury spa where the lighting is flattering and the problem is diplomatically managed. We're a medical aesthetic clinic, which means you'll receive an honest assessment, realistic expectations, and evidence-based treatment recommendations.
If something isn't the right option for you, I'll tell you. If the answer to your concern is something I can't offer at Janus, a referral to a plastic surgeon, a dermatologist, or an endocrinologist: I'll tell you that too.
What you'll find at Janus is a calm, professional environment where the treatment decisions are made on clinical grounds, and where you leave knowing more about your skin than when you arrived.
